Mubasher: Aluminium Bahrain (Alba) reported on Wednesday a sales growth of 4.9% during the first quarter of 2017, compared to the same quarter of the previous year, according to a bourse filling.

Sales reached 242,930 metric tonnes in Q1-17, compared to 231,540 metric tonnes in Q1-16, the company said.

Alba’s production rose 13,290 metric tonnes year-on-year in Q1-17 to 248,780 metric tonnes from 235,480 metric tonnes in Q1-16, according to the filing.

The company mentioned that the added value increased to 56% in the first three months of 2017, from 52% during the same period of 2016.

Alba’s board is scheduled to hold its board meeting on 23 April to announce the financial statements for the fiscal year ended on 31 March 2017.

In 2016, annual profits declined 19.2% to BHD 48.4 million, from BHD 59.9 million in 2015.

Alba’s stock ended Wednesday’s trading session 2.38% higher at 430 fils.
