Qatar banks’ bonds abroad reach QAR 34.5bn

Doha – Mubasher: The Qatar Central Bank (QCB) on Wednesday announced that the value of Qatari banks’ bonds issued abroad reached QAR 34.51 billion by the end of the first quarter of 2017.

In Qatar, the value of issued bonds from banks amounted to QAR 871.48 million, while the issued sukuk value stood at QAR 186 million, according to QCB’s statement.

The value of Islamic sukuk of the country’s banks amounted to QAR 11.54 billion in Q1-17, the statement added.

The value of depository certificates of Qatar’s banks increased to QAR 2.77 billion by the end of Q1-17, of which QAR 1.9 billion are in Qatar, and QAR 862.47 million are abroad.

Total assets of Qatari commercial banks inside and outside the country reached QAR 1.28 trillion by the end of Q1-17, the statement concluded.
