Doha – Mubasher: The Qatar Central Bank (QCB) on Monday announced that the assets of Qatari banks inside and outside the country increased 2.3% in April 2017, compared to March.

Total assets amount to QAR 1.31 trillion in April 2017, compared to QAR 1.28 trillion a month ago, the QCB statement showed.

On the other hand, the value of issued bonds from Qatari banks locally and abroad fell 5% in April to reach QAR 33.6 billion, from QAR 35.38 billion in the month before.

The first issue of Qatari bonds was in August 2016 at a value of $3 billion, which improved liquidity in the banking system that has been hit by lower oil and gas prices.

On a monthly basis, the total value of deposits certificates of Qatari banks fell to QAR 1.44 billion, compared to about QAR 2.77 billion.

Investment activities of Qatari banks in the real estate sector rose slightly by 0.4%, reaching QAR 915.09 million in April 2017, compared to QAR 911.5 million a month earlier.
