Riyadh – Mubasher: Cement-producing companies operating in Saudi Arabia saw a decrease in sales by 21.4% in May.

Cement sales totalled 4.51 million tonnes in May down from 5.74 million tonnes in May 2016, according to the monthly report issued by Yamama Cement Company.

Total production also declined by 18.4% in May and reached 4.57 million tonnes compared to 5.6 million tonnes for the same month in 2016.

On the other hand, cement inventories increased by 34.73% to 1.19 million tonnes in May up from 884,000 tonnes in the year-ago period.

Southern Province Cement saw the highest volume of sales, with a total of 514,000 tonnes, while Hail Cement resgistered the lowest sales at nearly 83,000 tonnes.
