Qatar able to endure blockade, sanctions - CEO
Qatar, the world’s second largest helium producer, has already solved the problem of its helium output suspension

Doha – Mubasher: Qatar is able to forever face the blockade imposed by some Arab and GCC states as its oil and gas industries will not be negatively impacted, Qatar Petroleum’s (QP) CEO Saad Sherida Al-Kaabi said on Tuesday.

"With what we have prepared, we can stay under the blockade forever, and our gas and oil industries will not be affected," Al-Kaabi stated in an interview with Al Jazeera TV channel, adding that foreign investments in Qatar’s oil and gas industries amount to QAR 250 billion ($66.67 billion).

Qatar, the world’s second largest helium producer, has already solved the problem of its helium output suspension by finding other ways to export its products directly through its capital, the CEO added.

However, last week the country shut down its two helium productions plants.

The CEO had previously stated that it will not cut off gas supply to the UAE, despite the “force majeure” that exempts Qatar from any commitment.

He indicated that the effect of a gas supply cut to the UAE will have a greater negative effect on Jebel Ali than on Qatar, but QP is staying true to its ethics, not its contracts.

On 5 June, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Bahrain, and the UAE broke their diplomatic ties with Qatar, after accusing Qatar of supporting terrorism.
