Abu Dhabi – Mubasher: Abu Dhabi National Energy Company (TAQA) on Monday announced starting oil production from its Atrush field in Kurdistan region of Iraq.

Located 85 kilometres northwest of Erbil, the Atrush field is expected to produce more than 30,000 barrels of oil per day, TAQA added.

“Atrush production will bring long-term cash flows to TAQA and we look forward to operating the asset with a commitment to the highest standards of health, safety and environmental protection,” Saeed Al Hajeri, TAQA’s chairman said in a statement.

The Atrush oil field was discovered in 2011, while development operations began in 2013.

TAQA owns a 39.9% stake in the Atrush field, while the Kurdistan’s regional government owns 25%, General Explorations Partners owns 20.1%, and Marathon Oil KDV B.V. owns 15%.
