Riyadh – Mubasher: The number of enterprises in Saudi Arabia's telecommunication sector reached 11,650, generating operating revenues of SAR 49.7 billion in 2016, according to new data of Saudi General Authority for Statistics (GASTAT).

Operating expenses amounted to SAR 39.7 billion, while employees’ compensation stood at SAR 6.5 billion.

The number of Saudi employees in the information and communication technology sector reached 53,488 during 2016, against 38,518 foreigners.

Most of the Saudi employees in the sector, namely 34,578, worked in the wireless telecommunications activities field.

The operating revenues of the wireless telecommunications field topped the sector's revenues with SAR 30.2 billion, followed by the wholesale of computers and peripheral equipment for computers with revenues of SAR 6.5 billion.
