DEWA’s customers to pay bills in instalments via Mashreq Bank

Dubai - Mubasher: Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) has signed a partnership agreement with Mashreq Bank that allows its customers to pay their bills in instalments of three or six months, according to a press release.

The customers will not be charges an interest or extra costs, when using Mashreq Bank credit cards, and they will be able to pay their bills by instalments using Mashreq Bank credit cards, in one step, via DEWA’s website or smart app, DEWA said in a statement on Monday.

“The partnership agreement with Mashreq Bank is part of our efforts to achieve the directives of the wise leadership to encourage customers and provide excellent government services through innovative channels, in cooperation with various public and private sectors, to help make Dubai the smartest and happiest city in the world,” said the managing director and CEO of DEWA, Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer.

“The Government of Dubai is proactive and creative in meeting the needs of the individual and society. This feature will enhance reliance on the smart payment channels, provided by DEWA, where customers can pay bills using Mashreq Bank’s credit cards at anytime, anywhere, which contributes to saving their time and effort,” the CEO added.

Al Tayer also noted that the adoption rate of DEWA’s smart services has reached 76% in the end of the second quarter of 2017.

DEWA aims to raise this to 80% during 2017, in addition to reducing the number of visitors to DEWA’s Customer Happiness Centres to 80%, as customers can conduct all their transactions, easily and safely, through DEWA’s smart app, or website, without the need for physical visits, the statement indicated.
