Dubai – Mubasher: The Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) on Sunday announced the launch of incentives for using electrical vehicles (EV) in Dubai.
These incentives, which are provided in cooperation with the Dubai Road and Transport Authority (RTA), aim to encourage people to use electrical vehicles, Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, board member and CEO of DEWA, said in a press conference.
The RTA will provide incentives that include free recharging at parks till the end of 2019, along with points in DEWA’s Green Charger initiative launched in 2015.
Other incentives include exemption from DEWA fees when registering or renewing EV licences, in addition to exemption from fees under the Salik programme, he added.
The DEWA launched the Green Charger initiative in 2015 to build infrastructure and EV charging stations. The authority has so far erected and installed 100 stations in different districts across Dubai.
The exclusive supplier of electricity in Dubai announced plans to double EV charging stations to 200 stations by 2018.
