Mubasher: The European Commission has approved on Tuesday providing a loan of EUR 100 million ($117 million) to Jordan under the European Union’s (EU) macro-financial assistance (MFA) programme.

This marks the launch of the second MFA with a total value of EUR 200 million ($235 million), which follows a first package of EUR 180 million ($211 million) approved in 2013 and fully disbursed in 2015, according to an official statement.

The disbursement of the second EUR 100 million instalment is expected to take place in 2018, depending on Jordan fulfilling agreed commitments, the statement noted.
