Qatar-owned US treasuries shrink by 57% in August
The value of Qatari-owned US treasuries reached $203 million in August as compared to $473 million in July

Mubasher: The US Department of the Treasury on Wednesday announced that treasury bills owned by Qatar declined by 57.1% month-on-month.

The value of Qatari-owned US treasuries reached $203 million in August as compared to $473 million in July, all of them are long-term treasuries, according to Department of the Treasury statement.

This decline does not conform with the declared approach of Qatar Investment Authority, which had declared earlier that it is committed to investing $35 billion in the USA in five years.

On the other hand, Kuwait increased the value of the US treasuries it owns in August to amount to $35.6 billion, making Kuwait the third Arab state in terms of US treasuries ownership.
