Riyadh – Mubasher: The value of e-commerce by the consumers and companies in Saudi Arabia reached SAR 30 billion in 2016, said a recent report by the Saudi Communications and Information Technology Commission (CITC).

The average of Saudi shopper’s expenses through internet amounted to SAR 4,000, the report added.

The Saudi body’s report noted that 42% of online shoppers purchased through social networking websites and applications in 2016.

These services represented about two-third of e-commerce's expenses in Saudi Arabia, and services that are related to travel acquired the largest stake of it.

The Saudi e-commerce market is seeing large growth, developing the sector in the Kingdom is subject to some strategies which will diversify economy, support growth domestic economy (GDP), provide job opportunities, attract investments, support innovation, and strengthens domestic industries.

CITC will organise its annual forum, ICT Forum E-Commerce in Saudi Arabia on Tuesday, 14 November in Al Nakheel in Riyadh.
