Cairo – Mubasher: The Egyptian Exchange (EGX) opened Thursday’s trading session up on the back of foreign buying.

By 10:20 am Cairo time, the benchmark EGX30 index edged up 0.94% or 130.53 points to 13,969.9 points.

The small- and medium-sized enterprises EGX70 index rose 1.58% to 773.4 points, while the broader EGX100 index added 2.06% to 1,774.57 points.

Likewise, the equal-weighted EGX50 index levelled up 1.1% to 2,447 points.

Trading volume reached about 24.7 million shares exchanged through 2,700 transactions at a turnover of EGP 69.6 million.

Foreign investors were net buyers with EGP 4.9 million, while Egyptian and Arab investors are net sellers with EGP 2.5 million and EGP 2.3 million, respectively.

Blue chips saw an upward trend, as Eastern Co. led stocks with a 7.54% increase, followed by HADISOLB and Elsewedy Electric which climbed 3.61% and 3.58%, respectively.

On the other hand, the heavyweight Commercial International Bank (CIB) slipped 0.05% to EGP 73.26.
