Riyadh – Mubasher: Prince Alwaleed bin Talal is said to be in talks with the Saudi government over a possible $6 billion bill for his release.

“The price being demanded is among the highest sought for those who have been arrested,” the Wall Street Journal (WSJ) reported, citing unnamed sources.

The figure involves selling a stake in Alwaleed’s Kingdom Holding Company (KHC).

In November, Saudi authorities arrested number of current and former officials, including the Saudi prince, accusing them of corruption.

Alwaleed, who is currently ranked as the 57th richest man in the world, has investments spanning a wide range of sectors and companies across the globe, including Twitter, Citigroup, and News Corp.

Alwaleed’s fortune amounts $18 billion, according to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index, while KHC, which is listed on the Saudi Stock Exchange (Tadawul) has a market value of around $9 billion.
