SEC sets up SAR 61bn projects in last 4yrs

Riyadh – Mubasher: The Saudi Electricity Company (SEC) said that it has implemented projects from 2012 until 2016 at a value of SAR 61 billion and there are undergoing projects that amounted to SAR 24 billion in Makkah.

These projects aim to cope with the increasing electricity demand in the Kingdom, Chairman of the Western Sector in SEC, Abdul Mo'ien Al-Sheikh said. 

The subscribers in the Western region represent 25% of total subscribers in Saudi Arabia and the peak load in this region makes up 32% of total peak load in the nation, Abdul Mo'ien added.

The total power generation capacity in the region increased by 8.5% from 2012 until 2017.

These projects enhance SEC’s services as its subscribers reached 2.291 million with an increase of 473,000 during the previous four years.
