 UK trade deficit shrinks in November

Mubasher: The UK’s trade balance deficit decreased in November, data released by the Office for National Statistics (ONS) on Wednesday showed.

Total trade deficit narrowed by GBP 2.1 billion to GBP 6.2 billion during the three months to November 2017 on the back of a 1.9% increase in goods export volumes in the same period.

Meanwhile, excluding erratic commodities, the deficit shrunk by GBP 1.2 billion to GBP 6.1 billion.

On the other hand, the UK’s total trade deficit, which includes goods and services, widened by GBP 500 million between October 2017 and November 2017.

By 10:44 am GMT, the GBP/USD pair slipped 0.07% to $1.3531, while EUR/GBP jumped 0.49% to 0.8859.
