Saudi Arabia anticipates launching new high-speed train
The high-speed train will reach a speed of 300 kilometers per hour

Riyadh - Mubasher: Saudi authorities announced on Saturday that the Haramain high-speed rail project will be launches soon.

The Saudi Railway Company (SAR) is still carrying out tests alongside the 450-kilometer railway, which connects the holy cities of Mecca and Medina.

Security forces in Medina were asked to participate in the demo rides that are carried out on Saturday morning at 9 AM, according to Mohamed Fedda, the project’s general manager.

Passengers will able to commute between the line’s stations through 35 trains, with a capacity of 417 passengers each, and a total capacity of 60 million passengers annually.

The high-speed train will reach a speed of 300 KM per hour, and will have four business class wagons, eight economic class, and a diner.

The first trial drive was carried out on 17 October 2017.
