Abu Dhabi - Mubasher: The UAE’s General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) on Monday said that Qatari fighter jets had twice intercepted an Emirati civilian aircraft during its scheduled flight to Bahrain, Emirates News Agency (WAM) reported.

The GCAA added that the second incident took place during the aircraft landing in Bahrain International Airport.

This incident violates all international agreements and civilian aircraft’s safety, the GCAA said, adding it is studying the necessary legal choices in the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) and other organizations.

On Friday, Qatar filed a complaint to the United Nations (UN) concerning an alleged violation of its airspace by an Emirati military aircraft on 21 December 2017, but the UAE denied the incident.

Already strained ties between Qatar and UAE have further deteriorated following the political dispute, which brewed in June 2017, when several Arab and GCC states cut diplomatic and transport ties with Qatar after accusing it of supporting terrorism. Doha forcefully denied the charge.
