Cairo - Mubasher: A survey by EFG Hermes showed that the Egyptian Exchange (EGX) is leading investment opportunities in 2018.

Around 250 CEOs were surveyed by Hermes during the Egyptian Economy conference, of which 51.28% were in favour of the stock market, while 23.08% voted for deposit certificates and treasury instruments, said the investment bank’s Co-CEO Mohamed Ebeid on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, 47.73% believe real estate prices will go up this year, with 64.29% expecting an improvement in the USD exchange rate, to average between EGP 16 and EGP 17.

The regional geopolitical scene was voted as the major risk facing the Egyptian economy in 2018, while the high-interest rates remain the main obstacle, followed by weak institutional capacities.

On the other hand, the Zohr gas field leads the positive signs of the year, according to the survey.
