Boursa Kuwait rises in week amid lower market cap

Mubasher: The indices of Boursa Kuwait registered an increase during the second week in February that ended on the 15th; the benchmark price index added 1.65% or 109.7 points to 6,764.28 points compared to 6,654.55 points in the previous week that ended on 8 February.

Similarly, the weighted index edged up by 0.09% or 0.36 points to end this week at 410.66 points, while the Kuwait-15 index added 0.43% or 4 points to 946.48 points.

Boursa Kuwait’s turnover shrank by 29.2% to KWD 48.48 million this week from KWD 68.08 million in the prior week.

The trading volume decreased by 34% to 312.22 million shares from 472.64 million in the past week.

The number of transactions shrank by 27.3% to about 13,470 from nearly 18,530 a week ago.

During this week, the market cap went down by 0.14% or KWD 40 million ($133.7 million) to KWD 27.83 billion ($93 billion) from KWD 27.87 billion ($93.13 billion) in the prior week.
