TASI ends week in gains despite global plunge

Riyadh - Mubasher: The Saudi Stock Exchange (Tadawul) saw a positive performance this week despite being affected by the slump in global markets, as the main index closed on gains

The Tadawul All Shares Index (TASI) rose by 1.45% or 107.3 points, and ended the week at the level of 7510.47 points.

The market capital rose by SAR 25.4 billion ($6.8 billion) to a total of SAR 1.76 trillion.

Analyst Safaa Faris believes that TASI is targeting short term resistance at 7,630, followed by the level of 7,750 points.

On the other hand, main support levels are at 7,460 and 7,390 points.

Traded values were down 25.3% to SAR 15.5 billion ($4.1 billion), compared to SAR 20.7 billion ($5.5 billion) last week.

Similarly, traded volumes dropped 26.3% to 713.4 million shares, down from 967.9 million shares.

As for the market sectors’ performance, 16 indices rose this week, led by media with 11.9%, and followed by commercial services with 5.2%, while four sectors declines with insurance losing 2.08%.

Meanwhile, banks, materials, and telecom went up 2.5%, 1.2%, and 0.56%, respectively.

The parallel market also made gains this week, as the NOMU index added 3.3%, closing at 3,092 points.
