Egypt to totally lift electricity subsidy by FY20/21- Minister
This will not delay the ministry’s plan to raise electricity tariffs by next July

Cairo – Mubasher: The Egyptian electricity ministry is planning to completely phase out electricity subsidy by the beginning of fiscal year 2020/2021, instead of FY19/20, minister Mohamed Shaker said in a seminar organised by the American Chamber of Commerce in Egypt.

This will not delay the ministry’s plan to raise electricity tariffs by next July, Shorouk News reported, citing the minister as saying.

In July 2017, the Arab world's most populous country announced new prices for household consumption of electricity with tariff increases ranged between 13 piasters and 135 piasters per kilowatt.
