Mubasher: Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi of and Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman jointly inaugurated the renovated Al-Azhar Grand Mosque.

Considered the largest in the mosque’s history, the renovation took over three years to implement with support from Saudi Arabia’s late King Abdullah as well as incumbent King Salman.

El-Sisi and the Crown Prince prayed in the mosque and toured its upgraded facilities on Tuesday.

Al Azhar’s grand imam Ahmed El-Tayeb, along with a number of the mosque’s officials, attended the inauguration.

Egypt’s Al Azhar mosque is almost a millennia old.

Egypt is the first destination on a tour conducted by Crown Prince bin Salman, who will then visit the UK and the US, where talks of the kingdom’s highly anticipating initial public offering of Saudi Aramco will likely take place.

During his three-day visit to the Arab world’s most populous country, bin Salman saw the opening of Tolip El Forsan Resort in Ismailia, as well as the signing of several deals.
