Trump accepts invitation to meet North Korea’s Kim Jong Un

Mubasher: US President Donald Trump has agreed to meet North Korean leader Kim Jong Un by the end of May to “achieve permanent denuclearization” after the two sides exchanged criticism and military threats.

The invitation was delivered by South Korea’s national security adviser Chung Eui-yong during his meeting with Trump and key national security officials in the Oval Office on Thursday, Sarah Huckabee Sanders, a senior White House official, said.

On the other hand, Jong Un pledged to stop nuclear and missile testing during the binary talks.

"Great progress being made but sanctions will remain until an agreement is reached," the US President posted on his Twitter account.

This meeting will mark the first face-to-face meeting between a US President and a North Korean leader.
