QSE rises 97.47 pts Thursday
The general index rose 97.47 points, or 1.11%, to close at 8,847.79 points.

Mubasher: The Qatar stock exchange (QSE) ended Thursday’s trading in the green, encouraged by the growth of five sectors, amid heavy trade.

The general index rose 97.47 points, or 1.11%, to close at 8,847.79 points.

By the end of the last session this week, the market's turnover levelled up 1.1% to QAR 480.68 billion from QAR 475.29 billion on Wednesday.

The QSE’s liquidity increased to QAR 1.05 billion on Thursday from QAR 470.56 billion on Wednesday, while the trading volume hiked to 34.49 million shares against 18.04 million in the previous session.

The banking sector topped the QSE’s five gainers adding 1.7% as Qatar National Bank (QNB) rose 2.93%, while the real estate sector grew 1.37% after United Development Company jumped 3.71%.

Similarly, the industrial sector inched up 0.12% on the back of Mesaieed Petrochemical Holding’s 6.03% jump.

On the other hand, the insurance sector topped the QSE’s two decliners falling 2.28% as Qatar General Insurance and Reinsurance levelled down 4.11%.

The goods sector inched down 0.06% as Al Salam International slid 7.68%.

Qatar Insurance’s stock, which decreased 2%, led the market in terms of trading volume with 10.5% million shares, generating QAR 363.6 million.
