Mubasher: Qatar Airways on Monday signs an agreement to acquire a 25% stake in Vnukovo Airport in Moscow, chief executive of the state-owned airline Akbar al-Baker said.

The deal will be completed within two months from the signing date, Al Baker told Interfax.

In 2017, Vnukovo Airport, which is deemed Russia's third largest airport, received around 18.12 million travelers. This number is expected to rise to 18.5 million travelers during 2018, the Russian news agency said.

The top official refused to give further details concerning the cost of acquisition.

On Sunday 25 March, Qatar's Emir Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani arrived in Moscow for a short work visit.

Bin Hamad and his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin, as expected, will discuss boosting cooperation between the two nation in economic, trade, agricultural, and investment fields.
