Dubai – Mubasher: The positive performance achieved by Aramex in 2017 came on the back of increased activity in the field of e-commerce globally, said chairman Abdulla Mohamed Ali Ghanem Al Mazrouei.

E-commerce services continue to be the top driving force behind in the logistics sector, Al Bayan newspaper reported, citing the top official as saying.

Speaking during Aramex’s ordinary general meeting (OGM) held Sunday, Al Mazrouei revealed that the logistics services provider will focus on a number of strategic initiatives in 2018 which aim to transform the company into a technology-based institution, while enhancing operational efficiency through a cost restructure programme.

Aramex will continue to study investment and acquisition opportunities, noting that the company evaluates between two and three acquisitions per year.

Acquisitions help the company expand its business segment, enhance its capabilities and services presented to clients.

Earlier on Monday, Aramex announced that its shareholders had approved a cash dividend representing 16.3% of capital and totalling AED 238.7 million.

The Dubai-based logistics company last reported a net profit of AED 435.4 million for 2017, up from AED 426.6 in 2016.
