EU investments in Egypt hit $15bn
Total investments of the EU in Egypt have exceeded $15bn through 6,339 firms

Cairo – Mubasher: Total investments of the European Union (EU) countries in Egypt have exceeded $15 billion through 6,339 firms.

These investments are mainly focused in the sectors of industry, services, and tourism, in addition to providing more than 192,000 jobs, head of the General Authority for Investment (GAFI) Mona Zobaa said in a press conference.

This came on the sidelines Zobaa’s meeting with an EU trade delegation of 27 European representatives at the GAFI’s head office in Salah Salem.

She remarked that about eight centres were established in eight governorates across Egypt to serve investors, adding that two new centres will be opened in the governorates of Minya and Suez within three weeks.

In March 2018, Egyptian trade minister Tarek Kabil said that Egyptian exports to the EU markets grew 24% year-on-year to $7.5 billion in the first 11-month period of 2017, compared to $6.3 billion in the same period of 2016.
