Transportation, banks boost QSE up at Wednesday's close

Mubasher: The Qatar stock exchange (QSE) ended Wednesday's trading in the green, encouraged by the growth of four sectors, amid high liquidity.

The general index rose 0.20%, or 18.31 points, to 9,109.64 points.

The QSE’s liquidity increased to QAR 330.43 million on Wednesday from QAR 294.08 million on Tuesday, while the trading volume grew to 12.51 million shares against 10.38 million in the previous session.

The transportation sector topped the QSE’s gainers adding 3.48% as Qatar Navigation jumped 7.53%.

Similarly, the banking rose 0.65% after Qatar National Bank’s (QNB) 0.58% increase.

Meanwhile, the industrial sector topped the bourse’s losers falling 1.21% as Gulf International declined 6.75%.

By the end of the session, Mesaieed’s stock, which advanced 2%, headed the market in terms of trading volume with 3.09 million shares, generating QAR 53.30 million in liquidity.
