PTA issues bylaws for Saudi women drivers
Female drivers have the right to only operate in the city where the license was released

Riyadh – Mubasher: The Saudi Public Transport Authority (PTA) has issued bylaws for family chauffeur service provided by female drivers.

Bylaws for family transportation service offered by female drivers stipulate that they must be Saudi, hold a proper driving licence, should be healthy and free of infectious diseases, in addition to having no criminal records, according to Al-Madina Arabic newspaper.

Female drivers have the right to only operate in the city where the license was released, the newspaper noted.

They should withhold offering transportation service if passengers were only males or a child sitting in the front seat.

Without the presence of an adult female passenger, the Saudi female driver will have to pay a fine of SAR 5,000, in addition to a fine of SAR 5,000 will be paid if the driver is a non-Saudi woman.

Female drivers would pay a fine of SAR 500 in case they drove in another city than the one where the licence was issued.

Moreover, a fine of SAR 2,000 will be paid by female drivers if a male passenger or a child sat in the car’s front seat.
