The new jet is considered part of 50 aircraft which the state-owned Qatar Airways will add to its current fleet by 2022

Mubasher: Air Italy, a subsidiary of Qatar Airways, on Saturday has received its first Boeing 737 Max.

The new jet is considered part of 50 aircraft which the state-owned Qatar Airways will add to its current fleet by 2022, according to a statement.

Boeing 737 Max is also deemed a part of 20 jets that will be added to Air Italy's fleet over the coming three years.

Air Italy will also receive five Airbus A330-200 aircraft from Qatar Airways during 2018 before being replaced by Boeing 787-8 Dreamliners starting from May 2019, the statement added.

Qatar Airways’ unit will launch flights from Milano to New York, Miami, Bangkok, and Mumbai in the coming period.

In May, Air Italy, Italy's second-largest airline behind Alitalia, started flights from Milano to Napoli, Palermo, and Olbia.

The Italian airline will also launch flights from Milano to Catania starting from 1 July, and to Lamezia Terme, as of 1 September.

Air Italy plans to implement expansion plans via starting the first flights from Fiumicino Airport in Rome by 2019, and to add more than 50 destinations by 2022.
