Riyadh – Mubasher: Goods handled in Saudi Arabia hit 70.3 million tonnes for the first quarter of 2018, while the total volume of containers reached 17.3 million tonnes, Saudi Ports Authority (MAWANI) said.

The handled containers amounted to 1.55 million, ships hit 3,000, and cars reached 197,814, the state-run utility added.

Saudi ports saw a major growth in total amounts of goods and handled containers during the three-month period ended March 2018, compared to the year-ago period.

MAWANI plans to upgrade management and operation of the kingdom’s ports in an effort to raise their logistic and operating efficiency to boost the national economy.
