Qatar stops goods imports from blockading states
Qatar has been able to face the shock and started expanding its relations and businesses with other countries

Mubasher: Qatar’s ministry of economy ordered shops not to offer products imported from Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Bahrain and Egypt, according to a circular sent on Saturday.

The world's richest country per capita decided to stop using goods from these countries days before the first anniversary of the Gulf rift brew in June 2017.

“The rift forced Qatar to shift import routes to Kuwait and Oman, and buy goods from Iran and Turkey,” according to Bloomberg News.

Qatar has been able to face the shock and started expanding its relations and businesses with other countries such as Turkey and Iran, in addition to attracting fresh foreign investments.

Since 5 June 2017, Qatar has been facing outflows of foreign customers' deposits after four Arab countries led by Saudi Arabia cut their diplomatic ties with the gas-rich state, accusing Qatar of financing terrorism. Doha forcefully denies the charges.
