Dubai – Mubasher: Dubai-based logistics firm Aramex on Wednesday reported a 26% year-on-year jump in net profits for the second quarter of 2018, recording AED 122 million, from  AED 97 million in Q2-17.

Quarter-on-quarter, the international logistics and transportation company's profits increased by 18% in the period between April and June, from AED 103.4 million, according to a statement to the Dubai Financial Market (DFM).

The courier firm attributed the second-quarter profit rise to implementing its restructuring plans and a growth in e-commerce, coupled with higher demand for its services.

Revenues grew 7% to AED 1.23 billion during Q2-18, from AED 1.14 billion in the corresponding period a year ago, the statement showed.

“We are extremely pleased with our results this quarter, which are attributed to the increase in demand for our services across most of our businesses and to our restructuring efforts,” Aramex’s CEO Bashar Obeid said.

In the first six months of 2018, Aramex’s profits levelled up 20% to AED 225.7 million, compared to AED 188.7 million during H1-17, while revenues went up 7% to AED 2.4 billion, from AED 2.3 billion.

“We are very proud of the progress we have made this year in enhancing our service levels and efficiently meeting the last-mile capacity needs of our clients globally,” the firm’s chief operating officer Iyad Kamal concluded.
