Mubasher: Vodafone Qatar on Sunday announced that it has completed the deployment of its world-class mobile coverage infrastructure in the three constructed phases of Msheireb Downtown Doha.

The project’s total cost amounted QAR 100 million, according to the telecom company’s statement to the Qatar Stock Exchange (QSE).

“We’re proud to be leading the provision of vital telecommunications infrastructure and services in Msheireb Downtown Doha, one of Qatar’s most important and iconic projects,” Sheikh Hamad Abdulla Jassim Al Thani, CEO of Vodafone Qatar, commented.

In 2014, both Msheireb Properties and Vodafone Qatar entered into a partnership in which the telecom firm became the primary provider of mobile services for Msheireb Downtown Doha.

Msheireb Downtown Doha is considered the world’s first smart and sustainable downtown regeneration project.

“We are committed to ensuring that all this ambitious project’s telecommunications needs are delivered to the very highest standards to enable thousands of residents, businesses, and visitors to benefit from Vodafone Qatar’s world-class network,” Al Thani added.

CEO of Msheireb Properties Ali Al Kuwari said that more reliable Radio Communication System (TETRA) will be used for security, operations and maintenance requirements.

It is worth noting that Vodafone Qatar recorded QAR 49 million in profits for the first half of 2018, versus a net loss of QAR 131 million in H1-17.

By the end of Sunday’s session, Vodafone Qatar’s stock rose 1.52% at QAR 8.62.
