Mubasher: Kuwait’s holdings of the US Treasury bonds increased by 22.5% year-on-year in August.
The Gulf country’s holdings of the US debt instruments grew to $43.6 billion in August when compared to $35.6 billion in the same month a year earlier, according to the US Department of the Treasury’s data.
On a monthly basis, Kuwait’s holdings of the US Treasury bonds increased by 1.6% in August, compared to $42.9 billion in July.
The bonds varied as $39.37 billion on a long-term basis, while the short-term bonds totalled $4.21 billion.
Kuwait was the third biggest Arab holder of US holdings after Saudi Arabia and the UAE, with a total of $169.5 billion and $59 billion, respectively.
