Dubai – Mubasher: The Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) has announced awarding AED 382 million ($ million) in contracts for power cables.

Under the deals, an area of 1,548 kilometres will be supplied with 11 kilovolt (kV) power cables.

DEWA’s award covers several parts of the emirate of Dubai, it said in a statement, noting that the contracts are part of the authority’s “criteria for the electricity distribution network expansion.”

Through its sizable projects, DEWA aims “to support and raise the capacity and efficiency of electricity transmission and distribution networks by providing an energy-efficient infrastructure and service facilities that provide electricity and water services in accordance with the highest standards of availability, reliability, and efficiency,” DEWA managing director and CEO Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer stated.

He added that DEWA sought to “consolidate” the emirate’s leading regional position as an efficiency and strong power infrastructure model.

DEWA forecast that the manufacture and supply of these cables would be completed by September 2019.
