Egypt-Sweden bilateral trade hits $541m in 8M
Swedish investments in the North African nation amounts to $133.5 million in 121 projects

Cairo – Mubasher: Trade exchange between Egypt and Sweden reached $541 million in the first eight months of this year, the Egyptian trade minister said.

Swedish investments in the North African nation amounts to $133.5 million in 121 projects in the fields of industry, telecommunication and information technology, financing, construction, tourism, and agriculture, Amr Nassar added in a press release.

This came on the sidelines of a meeting between Nassar and Sweden’s ambassador to Cairo Jan Thesleff who headed a delegate of a number of the chairpersons of major Swedish firms investing in Egypt.

Both parties discussed means of mutual economic cooperation in the fields of trade, industry, and small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).

For his part, Thesleff said that the Swedish government aims to double trade exchange with Sweden over the coming five years.

He stressed that a delegate of Swedish firms and experts in the transport sector will visit Cairo early November to discuss reducing road accidents rate within the framework of the current regulations performed by the transport ministry regarding the construction of new roads network.
