Mubasher: US President Donald Trump on Monday said his administration is looking into alleged antitrust violations by Amazon, Facebook and Google parent Alphabet.
Trump said in a video interview that his administration is “not looking to hurt” the US tech giants, adding that “we are looking at [antitrust] very seriously.”
Shares of the three tech companies were essentially flat in pre-trading on Monday, according to CNBC.
Trump has repeatedly attacked Amazon, claiming that package deliveries by the US Postal Service for the e-commerce giant were costing the service money, as well as being critical of Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos, who owns The Washington Post.
Recently, the tech companies have been under the scrutiny of the federal institutions in a bid to prevent foreign meddling in the upcoming US elections.
