29 UAE firms make Top 100 GCC market cap list in 2018

Dubai – Mubasher: A total of 29 UAE-based companies made Gulf Business’ list of 100 Best Companies in the GCC by Market Capitalisation for 2018. The report is issued annually in cooperation with Marmore MENA Intelligence.

Several UAE banks made the list, along with the country’s two telecom operators and Emaar Properties and its subsidiaries.

First Abu Dhabi Bank (FAB) topped the UAE list and ranked 3rd in the GCC, having risen by one spot from its 2017 ranking, after its market cap hit $43.62 billion.

Emirates Telecommunications Co. “Etisalat” came in second on UAE the list and fourth across the GCC, with a market cap of $38.36 billion.

DP World, whose market cap neared $16.89 billion ranked 9th among GCC peers, while Emirates Islamic ranked 12th with $14.79 billion and Emirates NBD came in at 14th with $13.88 billion, according to the report.

Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank (ADCB) acquired the 18th spot with $11.11 billion in market cap, followed by Emaar Properties with $9.63 billion at the 21st place on the GCC companies’ list. Dubai Islamic Bank (DIB) followed at 22nd with $8.52 billion.

ADNOC Distribution came in at 27th with $8.34 billion in market cap, followed by Emaar Malls at 29th with $6.87 billion.

Emirates Integrated Telecommunications “du” snagged the 32nd spot with $6.39 billion in market cap, followed closely by Emaar Development at 33rd with $5.96 billion, while Abu Dhabi-based Aldar Properties ranked 41st with $4.15 billion.

Union National Bank (UNB) came in at 43rd place with $3.75 billion, while Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank (ADIB) and DAMAC Properties ranked 47th and 50th with market caps of $3.53 billion and $3.43 billion, respectively.

In terms of GCC firms, Saudi Arabia snagged the top two spots through the Saudi Basic Industries Corp (SABIC) with $95.18 billion in market cap and the Saudi Telecom Company (STC) whose market cap amounted to $44.15 billion.
