Mubasher: Oman’s Ministry of Manpower has decided to expand the ban on granting employment visas to expatriate workers across some professions.

The decision also comes along with the Omani government’s plan to operationalise its policy of Omanisation.

The professions included purchase and sales representatives, workers in the construction, cleaning, and workshop sectors. daily newspaper Times of Oman reported.

This means that companies operating in these fields will no longer be able to receive new permits to employ people for these jobs.

The move is the ministry’s latest addition to the freeze on expat visas, which was first issued across 87 professions at the end of January, and then extended for another six months last July.

“This law will apply to all private establishments, replacing the earlier decision. Finally, this law will apply starting from November 30,” according to the ministry’s statement.
