Dubai airport passenger traffic rises 2% in October
Bag volumes handled by DXB hiked 4% in October

Dubai — Mubasher: Passenger traffic through Dubai International Airport increased 2.1% year-on-year to around seven million in October. 

The world’s busiest international airport received 74.5 million passengers since the beginning of the year, Dubai International (DXB) said. 

Bag volumes handled by DXB hiked 4% in October, with 5.7 million pieces of luggage passing through the airport’s state-of-the-art long baggage system.

The smart gate technology at DXB helped in slashing waiting times for passengers by 33% in October.

India remains the airport’s top source market with a passenger volume of 999,771, followed by the UK and Saudi Arabia with 502,890 and 444,803 travellers, respectively.

While North America came as the fastest growing region with a 14.4% growth in passenger numbers, followed by Africa and the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) with 9.8% and 8%, respectively.

The volume of cargo grew 2.5% to 237,499 tonnes of airfreight in October, bringing the total cargo tonnage for the year to 2,169,991.
