Eurozone current account surplus expands in October

Mubasher: The Eurozone’s current account surplus widened in October from September, but it saw a decline on over the 12-month period ended the reported month.

The current account surplus of the euro area came in at the revised EUR 23 billion ($26.33 billion) last October, above EUR 18 billion in the previous month, according to data released on Thursday by the European Central Bank (ECB).

Meanwhile, the surplus declined to EUR 345 billion in the 12 months ended October, accounting for 3% of the Eurozone’s gross domestic product (GDP), compared with EUR 350 billion in the same period last year.

By 9:09 am GMT, the EUR/USD pair rose 0.50% to $1.1433.
