DXB marks 1-billionth customer; CEO says satisfaction is key

Dubai – Mubasher: The Dubai International Airport (DXB)  has reached a new milestone after welcoming its one billionth international customer.

The DXB's success stemmed mainly from its catering to customers' needs, Dubai Airports chairman Sheikh Ahmed Bin Saeed Al Maktoum told CNN in an interview.

“It’s always about the customers. The more you please your customers, they will come again and again,” the top official, who doubles as the CEO of The Emirates Group, said.

The first 500 million customers travelled through the airport in 50 years, while the second 500 million took only seven years, which is, according to Ahmed Bin Saeed, a “big achievement.”

On a separate note, bin Saeed commented on the US Fed's decision to hike interest rates, saying that "this revenue has got to be transferred into dollars, we have losses there but that’s the way it’s been for the last 30 years…it’s always currency, oil prices will always affect the airline.”

It is worth noting that the Central Bank of the UAE followed in the Fed's footsteps and raised the UAE's interest rates on Thursday.
