Mubasher: Kuwait Integrated Petroleum Industries Company (KIPIC) announced the completion of 76% of Al-Zour refinery’s construction works.

The Gulf nation’s oil refinery is expected to be operational by 2020 with a capacity of 615,000 barrels per day (bpd), Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) reported citing KIPIC’s planning team leader as saying.  

The development of Al-Zour refinery came as part of Kuwait’s efforts to produce value-added products, Nawaf Al-Sharhan said, noting that the current capacity of the refinery will not be increased.

In mid-July 2016, state-run Kuwait Petroleum Corporation (KPC) approved the establishment of KIPIC to be responsible for the integration of construction, operation and management stages of the refining and petrochemicals complex and liquefied natural gas (LNG) importation facilities in Al-Zour facility.
