Abu Dhabi – Mubasher: The Department of Economic Development - Ajman (DED-Ajman) on Wednesday reported strong activity in terms of business licensing and economic permits for the fourth quarter of 2018.

Between October and December, DED-Ajman issued 1,458 licenses, registering a 53% year-on-year growth, while the total number of professional licences issued in the final three months of 2018 surged 76% to around 1,028 licences from 585 licenses in the same period of 2017.

In addition, the emirate’s economic development department released 186 industrial licences in Q4-18, added to fewer cancelled licences.

The final three months of 2018 saw 191 cancelled licences, down 12% from 216 cancellations in the same period of 2017, according to DED-Ajman’s report.

“These figures underscore the importance of [DED-Ajman’s] active endeavours to enhance the investment leadership of Ajman, which also reflects the importance of the policies we have implemented to enhance business competitiveness and sustain corporate growth across the emirate’s different business sectors,” commented DED-Ajman director general Ali Issa Al Nuaimi.

He added that the department would remain fully committed to continuing economic growth acceleration and enhancing the emirate’s business environment so that it is in line with the UAE’s Vision 2021.

“Our move is to further consolidate efforts to attract investments into Ajman, especially in priority sectors identified by the Ajman vision, namely industry, tourism, logistics, outsourcing and media,” Al Nuaimi concluded.
