Mubasher: Preliminary estimates indicated that US retailers saw a month-on-month sales decline in December, official data showed on Thursday.
Retail and food services sales totalled $505.8 billion in December, falling 1.2% month from a revised $512.2 billion in November, but with an annual gain of 2.3%, the US Census Bureau reported.
The sales increase between September and October was revised upwardly to a 0.1% from the initial reading of a 0.2% gain.
By 1:24 pm GMT, the US dollar index rose 0.10% to 97.2240.
