Peugeot posts landmark global sales in 2018

Mubasher: Peugeot reported landmark global sales last year, with record levels in revenue and recurring operating income.

The French car giant saw its sales climbing 6.8% last year, compared with the preceding year, to a total of 3.88 million new vehicle sales.

Peugeot’s parent PSA, which comprises the Peugeot, Citroen, DS and Opel car brands,  generated EUR 74 billion ($83.69 billion) last year in revenue, jumping 18.9% year-on-year.

Most specifically, Peugeot, Citroen and DS made significant progress for the fifth consecutive year, at the end of the first phase of the parent company’s strategic plan “Push to Pass.”

Under the plan, Peugeot took the first step towards its vision to become an efficiency leader and prominent provider of mobility services.

“The Group’s global success provides us with strong foundations to continue our revival in the Middle East and increase our footprint across the region,” Peugeot Middle East marketing and sales senior vice president Samir Cherfan said.

Peugeot’s Middle East renaissance

Peugeot’s namesake brand continues its comeback in the Middle East, which it established in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries in 2017 by setting up its regional headquarters in Dubai.

Over the past two years, the brand launched its flagship 3008 sports utility vehicle (SUV).

Earlier this year, Peugeot opened its new futuristic concept store in Yas Mall, Abu Dhabi, the French automobile manufacturer’s first concep tstore in the Middle East and the third globally.

Peugeot will continue to roll out global strategic plan, adapting it to the conditions in the Middle East, Cherfan added.
