Abu Dhabi – Mubasher: Eight GCC telecommunications companies ranked among the world’s 300 top valuable telecoms operator brands in 2019, according to a recent study by Brand Finance.

The UAE telecom operator Emirates Telecommunications Group (Etisalat) was named the most valuable telecoms brand in the region with a total value of $8.30 billion in 2019, from $7.7 billion in 2018.

Globally, Etisalat advanced from the 22nd position to the 19th, while its ranking climbed to AAA, from AAA- last year.

Saudi Telecom Company (STC) came in at the second place among GCC telecom operator, registering a total value of $7.09 billion, from $6.65 in 2018.

STC ranked the 24th globally, from the 30th spot last year and kept its AA+ position in 2019.

Meanwhile, Ooredoo Group was the third most valuable telecoms operator in the region with a total value of $3.78 billion, up from $3.37 billion last year.

The Doha-based telecom operator came in at the 41th spot globally from the 43rd place in 2018 and maintained its AA+ position.

In addition, Oman Telecommunications (Omantel) ranked the fourth most valuable telecoms operator in the region, climbing to the 129th globally, from the 135th place last year.

The list also included Emirates Integrated Telecommunications which retreated to the 54th place, from the 53th position last year.

Kuwait’s Mobile Telecommunications (Zain) advanced to the 56th position, from the 62nd spot among the world’s most valuable telecom brands.

Saudi Arabia’s Etihad Etisalat Company (Mobily) was also included at the 99th place globally, from the 97th spot last year.

In addition, Bahrain Telecommunications (Batelco) acquired the 222nd place globally, down from the 217th spot in 2018.

Global ranking

Internationally, major US telecom AT&T maintained its position as the world’s top valuable telecoms brand with a total value of $87.005 billion in 2019, from $82.422 billion in the prior year, while its ranking retreated to AA+ from AAA-.
