Cairo – Mubasher: Egypt’s annual urban consumer price inflation declined to 13.9% in February, versus 14.3% in the same month a year earlier, the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS) said in a statement on Sunday.
The consumer price index (CPI) rose 1.8% month-on-month to 304.2 points last month, the state-run statistics agency added.
The CAPMAS attributed the monthly increase in inflation rate to the price hikes of vegetables by 8%, poultry and dairy products by 9.8% and 1%, respectively.
The CPI edged up 0.8% month-on-month, recording 298.8 points in January.
It is worth noting that Egypt’s annual inflation eased to 12.2% in January, compared to 17% in the same month of 2018.
